Class Descriptions

 

Boot Camp - Are you ready to feel good about your body this summer? Come join us for Boot Camp! Get energized with an intense full body workout. Tone up, lose weight, or just get in better shape. Learn new exercises you can do at home to speed up the process. A fun mix of cardio and muscle sculpting moves to burn calories and get you where you want to be. Classic Pilates Ab-Series is done in every class! 50 minutes.

Chicken Soup Level I – This class is intended to introduce you to the very best that Pilates Plus has to offer. This class includes basic Yoga stretches, basic Pilates Mat Level I exercises, and introduction to Yamuna Body Rolling (a system of self-massage), and some Pilates props. With each class enrollment, students will receive a free CD of the Level I mat exercise for use at home. This class is 50 minutes; fundamentals of Pilates are a prerequisite.

Christian Yoga – The purpose of this class is for people to connect to themselves and God through the practice of yoga that is Christ-centered and enjoyed by all denominations of believers in Christ. We use Biblical scriptures that are based on themes like Peace, Angels and Prayer. The purpose of our Christian Yoga ministry is to exercise the mind and body while meditating on God's Holy Word; allowing HIS words to enter your heart and transform it. Basic yoga postures, poses, and stretches are taught; class is mixed level, but some yoga experience is helpful.

Detox Yoga – Our detox Yoga is a 60 min. class which uses specific yoga postures and poses for detoxification. This class is perfect for the end-of-work week toxicity that we often feel and a perfect way to start the weekend. Skip happy hour and join us! This is a mixed-level class, all are welcome. Some Yoga experience preferred but not necessary.

Duet, Trio, or Quad Lessons -- Share the cost of a private lesson. Use the Pilates Chair, Mat, and props to strengthen your core. Price ranges from $20 to $40 per session depending on the number of students.

Express Classes – These are 30 min classes; perfect for someone taking another class or private lessons. For example, Express Yogilates offers some Yoga, Pilates, Stretching and Relaxation. Express Pilates for athletes is designed for healthy individuals with no significant limitations and all athletes who want to improve performance by strengthening the core muscles.

Flow Yoga Level II - This is a level II yoga class. It is ideal for someone looking for more of a challenge. Standard yoga poses and postures are taught. It is recommended that students have prior yoga experience. This class is 75 minutes and includes a final meditation.

Foot Saver -- Rejuvenate and reactivate the muscles in tired, stiff feet using the patented Foot Savers balls. You will be amazed at this foot work out!

Fundamentals of Pilates – This class is a review of the essential Pilates Fundamentals (mini exercises). The fundamentals are the foundation of all of the Pilates Matwork. This class is 30 minutes . This is a pre-requisite for all Beginners Pilates Mat classes.

Fundamentals of Yoga - This class is a review of the Yoga essentials (breath, postures,awareness, etc.); these are the foundation of all Yoga programs. This class is recommended for anyone new to Yoga. 30 minutes.

Intro. Chair Class -- This is an introductory group chair class. Students will gain experience on the Pilates chair. Class is limited to 4 students. Pre-requisite is completion of one Pilates Mat class. (Prior private lessons experience is helpful, but not mandatory.) This class is 45 minutes .

Intro. Pilates Circuit – This is an introductory group equipment class. Students will gain experience on the chair, wall system (Cadillac) spine corrector, foot corrector, magic circle, stability ball and Bosu. Class is limited to 4 students. Pre-requisite is completion of one Pilates Mat class. (Prior private lessons experience is helpful, but not mandatory.) This class is 45 minutes .

Implementing “The Secret”-Come join us for an afternoon and learn how you can apply the “Law of Attraction” to your own life. Use this class as an opportunity to set all your goals for ’09. During this class you will learn ways to “have, be, or do anything you want”! This workshop will give you an opportunity to take the “Secret” to the next level and apply practical strategies that you can implement immediately. We will teach you how to go on a rampage of appreciation, implement powerful visualization strategies and manifest your desires!

Level II Chair Class – This class teaches intermediate Pilates Chair Exercises—pre-requisite is completion of a beginner level chair class. Class is limited to 5 students. This class is 50 minutes.  

Meditation – Our meditation classes are all introductory. Anyone can attend and benefit. Complete descriptions of each session are posted in the studio and on our website. The meditation series focuses on: Stress management, increased focus, inner balance and relaxation through meditation.  Each class includes body awareness, pranayama (breathingpractice), and practical application of various meditation practices. This class is 1-hour.

Mommy and Me Yoga – This is a beginning level Yoga class for Mom and her 7-11 year old son or daughter. Basic postures, breathing, and stretches will be taught. Cost is per couple; limit of four pairs.

Nutritional Consultation - We are currently offering a special introductory private consultation for $37.50. In this session, you will meet with our Nutritional Counselor to discuss your nutrition goal and challenges.

Pilates Chair I/Mat Combo -- This is an introductory group chair class wherein tudents will gain experience on the Pilates chair. Students will also practice level I mat exercises. Class is limited to 4 students. Pre-requisite is completion of one Pilates Mat class. (Prior private lessons experience is helpful, but not mandatory.) This class is 50 minutes .

Pilates Circuit Mixed Level – This is an exciting opportunity for students who want to explore the challenge of the Pilates equipment, including the Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Arc Barrel, and Spine and Foot Correctors. Completion of an eight-week Beginner Mat Class is a pre-requisite to this class. Completion of a private lesson package is strongly recommended—to prepare for this class, try the $3/99 special! Class is limited to 5 students and is 50 minutes.

Pilates Mat Level I – This is a beginner mat class. Fundamentals of Pilates are reviewed in each class. The Fundamentals of Pilates is a pre-requisite for this class. This class is 50 minutes.

Pilates Mat Level I Express or Express Props - This class is the classical Pilates mat work--a full workout, from Hundred to Push Up! This class is 30 minutes, so the flow and tempo of this class is quick! The Express Props uses various props (magic circle, hand weights, or weighted balls). The Fundamentals of Pilates is a pre-requisite for this class. We also recommend that you complete a full Pilates Mat Level I session first.

Pilates Mat Level II/Props – This class teaches intermediate Pilates Mat Exercises and will introduce a variety of props including the magic circle, Theraband, foam roller, weighted balls, hand weights and more! Pre-requisite is completion of a Level I Class. This class is 50 minutes.

Pilates Mat Level I/Stretch Combo – This class combines 20 minutes of stretching and 30 minutes of basic Pilates mat work. This class is 50 minutes. The Fundamentals of Pilates is a pre-requisite for this class.

Pre-Pilates Mat Level I - This class is designed to break down the basic level I Pilates mat exercises at a controlled, slower pace. The goal of this class is to ensure proper form and technique. Each week, different exercises are examined and practiced. Students are assigned homework each class. This is a good class for the beginner, but also a great review class.

Qigong - This class is an integration of physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention. People do Qigong to maintain health, heal their bodies, calm their minds, and reconnect with their spirit. Qigong's great appeal is that everyone can benefit, regardless of ability, age, belief system or life circumstances.

Relaxation 101 - This class is a tour of the very best relaxation techniques on the planet and includes gentle stretching, breathing practices, meditation, progressive relaxation and guided imagery. It is designed to reduce stress and invoke deep relaxation. 60 minutes.

Roulette Class -- With this class, you never know what’s coming!!!! This format combines the best of the Pilates Plus group class formats. All classes have 30 minutes of basic Pilates and are combined with something different each week, including: Beginner Yoga, Body Rolling, Basic Stretch, and Zumba. If you like the variety of new things, but want the consistency of the Pilates mat work each week, then this format it for you! Try it! It’s fun!

Summer Sampler 7-- Every year, we host a “Summer Sampler 7” in late August. This “Sampler” allows you to sample ANY class, for only $7! It is a great way to try out that class you have had your eye on, without having to commit to it for ten weeks. The schedule will be out soon, but keep in mind that classes fill up quickly, so get your registrations in as soon as you can!

Tai-Chi -- You will learn effective forms of stretching and strengthening exercises, the Yang Form, and basic Qigong exercises. Tai' Chi will help you balance, slow down, and appreciate the beautiful flow of this form of exercise.

Taste of Health –The purposed of these events are to encourage you to try some of our very best services. For $99.00 you can try 20 minutes of Private Pilates on the apparatus or 20 minutes of private Yoga, 20 minutes of seated massage, and 20 minutes of reflexology! This event will allow you to “taste” the services of health and wellness and make new friends. Whether you are new to the studio or not, don’t miss these events when they are offered.!

Teen Yoga Camp for Athletes – This 5-week camp is designed for teens (or anyone) who wants to better their performance through improvement of flexibility, concentration, balance, and core strength. Recommended for ages 10+.

Walkilates – Seasonally, this class combines 20 minutes of walking (outdoor; surrounding the Schoolhouse Pond) and 30 minutes of Level I Matwork. Students are required to wear a properly fitted, well-supported walking shoe. The Fundamentals of Pilates is a pre-requisite for this class. This class is 50 minutes.

Yoga (A.M. and P.M.) – Our Yoga classes are all beginner; all levels are welcome. Teachers will demonstrate modifications (easier) and variations (harder) of all poses. Each class will include a meditation. This class is 50 minutes.

Yogilates – This class combines basic Pilates Mat exercises and beginner Yoga poses. This class is great for students who want to explore each discipline! The Fundamentals of Pilates is a pre-requisite for this class. This class is 50 minutes.

Zumba - ZUMBA combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow you to dance away your worries. It's based on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO". ZUMBA is not only great for the body, but is also great for the mind. People all over the country are loosing weight and having fun with Zumba.
