We have often received the question: "Can
Christians practice yoga?" Or, we meet people who have been
warned that yoga is against a particular belief system. Are you
curious what it means to be a Christian and practice yoga? Our belief
is that yoga is healthful exercise that is not connected with any
particular religion. This may surprise you, given the new-agey feel
experienced in many yoga classes.
Our goal with Christian Yoga is to combine the
strengthening flexibility training of yoga in a Christ-filled atmosphere
of praise and thanks. We believe that God wants His children to
be healthy and that our bodies are God’s temples. We believe
that striving for radiant health is one more way that we can thank
God for our blessings. Christian Yoga is perfect for people wanting
to get into shape as well as athletes searching for non-impact workout
alternatives.
The purpose of our Christian Yoga class is for
people to connect to themselves and God through the practice of
yoga that is Christ-centered and enjoyed by all denominations of
believers in Christ. We use Biblical scriptures that are based on
themes like Peace, Angels and Prayer. The purpose of our Christian
Yoga ministry is to exercise the mind and body while meditating
on God's Holy Word; allowing HIS words to enter your heart and transform
it. Basic yoga postures, poses, and stretches are taught; class
is mixed level, but some yoga experience is helpful.
If you have no Yoga experience, but want to participate
in this powerful experience, consider doing a few private lessons
first. Our teachers are all Yahweh Yoga trained and are daily yoga
practioners themselves! We hope to see you on the mat.
